If you own an iPhone 3G, you already know that AT&T doesn’t offer iPhone insurance. In fact, AT&T’s Wireless Phone Insurance specifically excludes the iPhone 3G and other iPhone models. But for all you iPhone 3G users out there, here’s a bit of good news: iPhone 3G insurance is available.
With a run-of-the-mill phone, not having cell phone insurance is no biggie. In fact, we’ve already explained that cell phone insurance is pretty much a huge rip off. But when you’re lugging around a brand-new iPhone 3G worth over 0–enough to feed a small third-world village for a six months–insurance is definitely something to consider.
If you need iPhone insurance, consider the following options:
-
Geek Squad’s Black Tie Protection will insure your iPhone against a wide range of perils, including battery failure and normal wear-and-tear, but it’ll cost you about per month.
-
State Farm home insurance endorsement. If you have home insurance with State Farm, you can include an iPhone under your personal articles endorsement for roughly per year.
-
For roughly per year, SquareTrade offers insurance for iPhones and covers in case of drops, spills, water damage, battery failures and much more. Coverage must be purchased within 30 days of purchasing a phone.
Can’t afford any of these options? Here’s the best alternative: the iPhone anti-theft disguise.
